## Slides — Flame Zones Lab (Copper Wire Loop Experiment)

### Setup
- A lit candle
- A copper wire bent into a small loop
- A cold surface (spoon)

### The three zones (bottom → top)
1. **Innermost — non-luminous (dark)**
Unburnt wax vapours rise here; no combustion yet.
2. **Luminous zone (yellow)**
Partial burning — unburnt carbon particles glow.
*Cold surface here → black soot deposit.*
3. **Outermost (blue)**
Complete combustion with full air supply — **hottest zone**.

### Observations
- Copper loop blackens fastest in the **luminous zone** (soot).
- Loop melts first in the **outermost zone** (highest heat).
- A smoky wick is cut off from air — it goes out.

### Take-away
> Colour of a flame zone = completeness of combustion.
> Blue = complete = hottest · Yellow = incomplete = soot.
